We are so grateful the students at Warren Wilson College, Professor Dr. Sarah and her TA John! They donated their time and materials and they worked so hard during their spring break to build us a mini hoop house! Now we can grown from seeds! 🌱 🌻🪴🫛🍅🫑🍓

Spring break is usually for beaches and naps, but these Warren Wilson College students chose... rakes and goat shenanigans. We’ll take it! 🌾🐐
Huge thanks to Dr. Sarah Himmelheber and her Warren Wilson College Care Farming class for spending their Spring Break with us! These rockstars tackled wind storm debris and leaf piles like pros. Of course, Jelly Georgia provided the “entertainment” by head-butting every volunteer she could find. 🐏💥 Consider it a very firm farm welcome! We’re so grateful for the help and the laughs. 😄

Science calls this “Blue Space” therapy, and here is why your brain is obsessed with it:
1️⃣ It quiets the noise: The steady rhythm of water puts us in a state of “soft vigilance,” stopping the spiral of overthinking and opening the door for creativity. 🎨
2️⃣ It’s “Pink Noise”: Unlike harsh white noise, water is often pink noise. It has lower frequencies that regulate your brain waves, leading to deeper sleep and better memory. 😴
3️⃣ It flips the switch: Listening to nature sounds physically shifts your body from “Fight or Flight” to “Rest and Digest.” It’s a literal shortcut to lowering your heart rate and cortisol. 📉
Basically, your brain hears water and thinks: “We’re safe, we’re hydrated, and we can finally relax.” 🌊🧘‍♂️
Which one do you prefer: a thunderstorm ⛈️ or a babbling brook?

We had an ice skating rink installed for the animals at the farm for the last couple days. ⛸️ 🧊Ice, ice baby! They didn’t like it so much. I didn’t either. Farm chores are not fun on ice. 🥶 , , , , ,

🧠 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) show that interacting with animals can decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol and lower blood pressure, while also reducing loneliness and boosting mood. 🌳 University of Exeter found that spending at least two hours a week in nature is associated with significantly higher levels of health and well-being.

What a truly grounding and beautiful day for an Equine Assisted Learning workshop! 🍂🐴 A massive thank you to Elizabeth McCorvey for her incredible guidance. With the gorgeous fall weather as our backdrop, we learned so much about calming the nervous system and the power of simply being part of a herd. The grounding techniques we practiced with the horses were transformative. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend experiencing her work! 💚🐎🤠
