City of Hendersonville Winter Storm Readiness Alert:

The City of Hendersonville now has five (5) plow trucks with spreaders for road salt. Roads are prioritized based on traffic volume and navigation difficulty (steep grades, bridges, hospital, police & fire access)

We have over 200 tons of salt and plan to start spreading on the priority roads just prior to the snow’s arrival. Crews are on call and watching the forecast. The priority plowing map is below. Please note TDOT plows the state roads such as Main St, New Shackle Island and SR-386.

While we are hopeful this is a snow only event, the forecast currently says some ice is possible in our area. Ice accumulation can lead to power outages, downed trees and added difficultly clearing roads. Plan ahead and take precautions in case this becomes an issue.

Once the primary roads have been plowed/salted, crews will move on to cover secondary roads in each trash route to help facilitate reliable trash collection. Depending on the overall condition of the roadways into the city, the trash vendor, in coordination with the City, may still determine the roadway conditions are unsafe for trash collection vehicles. Please check social media and the city website for the latest updates for trash service during inclement weather. https://www.hvilletn.org/450/Daily-Trash-Collection-Update We will try to post any delays in service the evening before collection.

How residents can help:
1) Please stay off the roads if you can. Give crews time to clear roads as they are able. Staying home helps first responders and road crews stay safe and allows them to focus on the most immediate needs.
2) Do not park cars along the street. This prevents plows from properly clearing roads
3) Stay warm and enjoy the snow! - Remember no sledding at Country Hills Golf Course. (Too much damage in previous years)

Important things to note:
- Salt is not effective once temps drop below 19 degrees and plows do not work on ice. A lot will depend on what kind of weather we get.
- In the event the power goes out, contact your electric service provider (NES or CEMC) directly to report outages or ask service-related questions.
