We are honored to share that Shuler and Forest Lawn Funeral Homes have officially been recognized as Distinguished Kindness Workplaces through The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation Kindness at Work Program.

This certification celebrates workplaces that intentionally build a culture of compassion — showing kindness not only to the families and community we serve, but to our own team members as well.

We are weaving kindness into our everyday culture. We’ve introduced “Tag! You’re It!” cards, which are left anonymously with a small gift or inspiring message on a sticky note to brighten a team member’s day. We collaborate on meaningful ways to support our community — including the decision to create Hurricane Helene Remembrance Services.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve Western North Carolina with empathy and care — not just in our profession, but in our daily interactions with our community and our team.

Thank you to our staff and our neighbors for inspiring us to lead with kindness every day, and thank you to The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation for creating such a wonderful program!

We believe everyone has a right to food. According to mentalhealth.com, “Hunger disrupts the way people think, feel, and connect. Food insecurity sows anxiety, shame, and uncertainty into daily life, especially for those who don’t know when or if they’ll eat again. These emotional burdens accumulate, affecting how children develop and how adults cope, often without visible signs.” Thanks to the generosity of and Full Circle has a 24/7, fully autonomous walk-up food pantry. Stocked largely by our community, the pantry is available to any and everyone in need of food. We ask that people who are able to please help stock it with shelf stable foods and small useful goods (hygiene kits, toothpaste, first aide, small warm items like hats and gloves, hot hands, etc). You may also donate funds to help keep it filled. All receipts will be posted in our stories for full transparency. VENMO @ FCFreePantry • Please leave “pantry” in by line.

Today our team had the honor of carrying forward a family’s love in a special way. After the funeral service, we delivered these beautiful floral arrangements to the assisted living community where their loved one was a resident.

It was a touching moment to see those flowers brighten the halls and bring comfort to the staff and residents.

We believe that every gesture of kindness can continue a legacy of love and care.
