"Have a cup of cheer" often translates to extra sugar. UNC Health Pardee dietitian Ashley shares simple swaps for beverages to help you enjoy the holidays and feel your best.

Easy, festive swaps:
🍹 Mix a holiday mocktail for sparkle without alcohol or added calories
🥤 Jump on the "dirty soda" trend using diet or zero-sugar soda instead
✨ After one glass of wine, switch to a fruity sparkling water in the same glass
⛄ If choosing beer, go light to save on calories while still enjoying a treat
🎄 Love eggnog? Try almond nog for a lighter, lower-sugar twist

Cheers to a healthier holiday season!

At UNC Health Pardee, our leaders play a vital role in shaping our mission, supporting our teams, and driving excellence in patient care.

Meet April Monnich, Director of Nursing Services for inpatient behavioral health. From a young age, April wanted to be a nurse. It wasn’t until later in life, and after some life-changing circumstances, that she had the opportunity to pursue that dream.

Her leadership philosophy is built on trust. She says, “I live by the Golden Rule, treating others as I would want to be treated, and the team knows this.”

When she’s not at work, April enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Thank you for , April!
