Pain relief is usually what gets people in the door.

But the real goal? Building a body that’s stronger, more capable, and more resilient so the pain doesn’t just keep coming back.

With Jay, we didn’t just focus on getting him out of pain. We focused on strength, movement quality, and building a body that can handle the things he loves to do.

Less pain is great. But better function, more strength, and more confidence in your body is the real win.

If you’re dealing with pain but want to address the WHY behind it, DM me “BEND” and let’s chat 💪

Sometimes adding weight makes an exercise easier… and sometimes assistance makes it harder.

A little resistance during a hamstring stretch can actually help your body relax deeper into the position. Meanwhile, adding assistance to something like a crunch can slow you down and force more control.

Movement is weird like that.
Load and support aren’t just about making things harder - they’re about making them better.

Your body usually responds best when we get a little creative with it. 💪

Ben and Aubri ran the River City Half this weekend!

Did they train enough? Maybe not.

Did they still have fun? Definitely yes.

Shin splints?

It’s probably not just the front of your shins causing the problem. There are muscles deeper in your lower leg that can create very similar discomfort when they’re overworked or underprepared.

Try these couple of exercises to build strength and endurance in your lower leg so it can better support you while running.

⚠️ Quick note: stress fractures are real and can develop from under-recovery, poor nutrition, or ramping up training too quickly. If pain keeps getting worse or isn’t improving, it’s worth getting it checked out.

Good luck to everyone running the River City Half Marathon tomorrow. Bend, don’t break!

Honesty hour… Ben hurt his shoulder.

And it wasn’t a cool story or injury or anything like that. Just a bow that was a little too strong.

What did he tear? What is he going to do to rehab it? Will he have to lose his arm?

Stay tuned over these next few weeks!

Common ≠ normal.

If it’s been hurting for months, that’s not “just how it is.”

It’s a signal.

And signals are meant to be addressed.

Flexibility Friday = Hip Edition

Capping off Mobility Week with two unconventional moves to unlock your pelvis and the backside of your hips.

Because your hips don’t just move forward and back - they rotate, shift, and absorb load in real life. If we only stretch them in one direction, we leave a lot on the table.

Share these with a friend whose hips ARE lying!

People often think the best way to improve back pain is to lock everything down and stay perfectly “neutral.”

Planks have their place - but your spine wasn’t built to be braced 24/7.

It was built to move.

When we gradually expose the spine to different positions and build strength there, we make it more adaptable, more resilient, and more capable of handling real life.

Share this with someone who’s been told to “just keep it neutral” and is still dealing with back pain.

Shoulder mobility matters more than you think.

If you can’t move into internal rotation + extension, you’ll notice it when you reach behind your back, throw, lift overhead, or even just try to scratch between your shoulder blades.

When that motion is limited, something else (usually your neck or low back) picks up the slack.

Keep the shoulder moving well so it doesn’t borrow motion from places that shouldn’t have to pay.

Slow, controlled, and pain-free range > forcing the stretch.
