Final consonant deletion is just one of the many speech patterns that children use to simplify difficult words and sounds as they are developing. When these patterns persist beyond the age when they should have been resolved, or if there are atypical speech patterns that aren’t part of typical development, this is when a speech-language pathologist can help!
