We had the privilege to attend a training in VA with Kevin Campbell over a decade ago. It really excited us to to learn about the work of re-connection for youth in foster care. We have witnessed over and over that there family members and former relationships everywhere for our youth in foster care - if we dedicate the time and resources to find them!

After talking to an uncle with her therapist on a Thursday, this is what a team member shared with us the next week. For this older teen with multiple placements in group homes and treatment facilities in the past few years- the idea that someone wanted to know her and wanted to be connected to her was the start of her healing.

Research indicates that youth who can be placed with kin experience more overall placement stability and mental health outcomes. For the last decade, C2 has been working to help prioritize kinship placements for older youth in foster care, especially those residing in group homes and residential mental health facilities.
