All too often we buy items for the baby, yet it is important to also focus on mom. Here are some items that can really come in handy in those first days following delivery. Have you heard of the 5-5-5 postpartum rule? This rule promotes faster recovery from childbirth, reduction in postpartum depression symptoms and strong bonding. It’s not always practical but following this as much as possible is encouraged. And of course having a postpartum doula can help with this by assisting with household chores while mom is recovering!❤️ Becky Pence Cherry

If anyone is interested in looking for a very useful and unique baby shower gift, an overnight postpartum doula shift gift certificate is a great idea! As an overnight doula, I work closely with mom in determining what her most important needs are. Some new moms like to have me wake them for night time feeds, where as others prefer to pump and have me feed the baby with a bottle. Along with the overnight feeds, I also change, soothe, and comfort the baby as needed. Those snuggles are the absolute best!! I also will do any light (and quiet) household chores such as the baby’s laundry, restocking the nursery and washing breast pump parts and washing and sanitizing bottles. Taylor Made Doula Services is now offering postpartum services. This service provides overnight support for new parents. I will offer overnight care in your home while the parents get much needed rest. Services include comforting baby to help establish good sleeping habits, night feeds, by either bringing baby to the mother for breastfeeding or providing bottle feeding. Changing diapers, cleaning bottles and/or breast pumping equipment, and baby laundry is also provided. Hours are generally 9pm to 6am. If you are a new parent and would like to take advantage of this service, whether it be one time or for several days please contact Becky at 541-571-5458. References are available and I am infant CPR certified. Reasonable daily rates available.
