Sticking with the basics to fix sprinting mechanics! One of the biggest mistakes I see young athletes make, whether it's coming out of the blocks or their first few steps out of the batter's box, many kids have a tendency to "reach" with their hips. This puts their pelvis in an anterior tilt and slows down the hip muscles. In the first exercise, you can see is focusing on core and hip stability while she pushes into the wall. Concentrating on keeping the pelvis in a posterior tilt allows for better force production during a sprint. In the second exercise she is maintaining that pelvis position while working on quickness and proper arm drive.

Speed Agility & Power classes are Mondays and Wednesdays at 630am for ages 12-16, and Fridays at 730am for ages 6-11 💪

I'd like to welcome to the Elite Performance team!! Kadie will be helping with the Speed Agility and Power classes for the student athletes! She is preparing for the NASM CPT exam and is looking forward to helping young athletes reach their potentia! Classes start December 1st., and will be at St. Patrick's parish hall.
Mondays & Wednesdays will be ages 12-16 at 6:30am
Fridays will be ages 6-11 at 7:30am

Give a high five to when you see her! She built 4.5 pounds of muscle this year! Janelle has been coming to exercise class 4 days a week and seeing lots of improvement in strength. One thing most people don't realize is the correlation between muscle mass and brain health. Women who have less than 60 pounds of muscle mass are 3 times more likely to develop dementia or alzheimer's than Women who have over 70 pounds of muscle mass. In another study involving college football players, athletes with the most muscle mass had the highest GPA's. Come on down to to get your body composition scan!

Ill be offering fitness testing this weekend. There will be two opportunities to participate, Saturday at 7am or sunday at 8am. This is an excellent opportunity for those of you unable to attend weekly classes. You can get a baseline of your fitness level and identify some areas you need to work on. I do this every twice a year as part of the class. Spots are limited, so message me for details.

Today was the last day of camp for grades 8-11! We did a lot of super setting today, with speed and power. Performing a ladder variation for 3 reps and then going into a box jump variation for 3 reps is a great way to improve quickness and force production. Throughout the week, we also did several strength exercises, using the pullup bar and learning different pushup variations. These kids showed a lot of heart, and i look forward to seeing how they compete in the upcoming year! .whatwatkins .wils3

It's been 6 months after getting a new patellar tendon, and John is getting stronger each week 🦵🙌🏼!
Today, we did 3 sets of 8 on each leg of reverse lunge with rotation. Then 3 sets of 8 on Ice skaters. Both of these exercises require knee strength and stability, while the hip and thoracic spine are doing the majority of the movement.
The third exercise is an assisted single leg squat. Various rubber bands come in handy for progression. Today, we did 3 sets of 8 on each leg with a lighter band.

Stay consistent!!! Over the past two years has completed over 340 workouts using the Health With Blas app! Her original goal was to tone up and look her best for her wedding day! Congratulations to ! Out of the 7 people who took the body composition test today, Owen had the most lean muscle mass with a total of 91 pounds! He is a football player and a wrestler at heppner high school and he wants to take his weigh lifting more seriously so he can build muscle as fast as possible. The InBody 570 machine is the medical grade version so it is the most accurate. 3 of the readings will give Owen the knowledge he needs so he can adjust his nutrition to meet the demands of his workouts and maximize muscle growth. I wish this technology was available when I was in high school! Go mustangs!
