Our Outpatient Rehab Receptionists were recently recognized by their coworker for being the rocks of the department!

"All of the ladies at the front desk always come to work with a smile. They go above and beyond to help out our therapists to make sure the patients have adequate insurance coverage, spend extra time trying to schedule patients to fit their and the therapists schedule, and are always willing to help out the therapists with a positive and friendly approach. Heat management especially important this time of year. Be aware of signs of heat exhaustion including: headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness and confusion. Never leave children or pets in cars, even with the windows cracked.

Sun protection is important for all ages. Sunscreen is a must! Apply liberally to all exposed areas, ideally an hour prior to sun exposure. SPF of a mineral source is recommended. My dermatologist recommends Blue Lizzard. EWG has many good recommendations for safer sunscreens. Also reapply often; especially if swimming. And wear your hat and sunglasses. Be aware of medications you may be taking that increase sensitivity.
What sunscreen do you use?

Hydration is first. Aim to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water every day. So if you are 200lbs, drink 100 oz of water a day. This does not include coffee or soft drinks. Look for the farmers market for local resources for fruits and vegetables high in water content as well. Are there other things you do to stay hydrated?
