Meet Hannah Schroer! Hannah is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) student at Logan University who just started her first trimester. Learn about where Hannah's journey to chiropractic began and how it led her to Logan below!

"Choosing Logan was easy as it perfectly aligns with my personal and professional goals.

After a minor tubing accident in 2020 left me feeling sore, I visited a local chiropractor and felt immediate relief. I became intrigued with chiropractic and shadowed the chiropractor for a class assignment while in undergrad at the University of Missouri (Mizzou). Eventually, this passion led me to an internship at the chiropractic office where I previously received care, and I stayed working as a chiropractic assistant even after completing my internship and graduating.

I learned about Logan from that same chiropractor and sought out additional information. The supportive campus community, early hands-on opportunities and evidence-based mission resonate with me, especially after attending Mizzou. I want to take the time to share how much I appreciate and enjoy this Standard Process Product: The General Female Endocrine Pack

Truth be told, if it weren’t for Doug, I would not take my supplements consistently. In our household his love language is leaving out a little bowl of supplements for each of us each morningšŸ¤— Recently, we are not together every morning and when not together, I have faithfully been taking one packet each morning. Cost wise it ends up being less than $2/day for a high quality absorbable supplements. If I were to take it as directed, which is AM & PM, it’s less than $4/day.

Brynn’s Breakfast…she loves it!! Making sure I’m starting her day with proteins and some micronutrients.

The recipe comes across a little intimidating because there’s three steps. Was not difficult at all.

We didn’t have walnuts on hand so I substituted an almond, hazelnut, pecan blend. We also didn’t have an 8x8 pan so I used a Pyrex almost 8x6.5. Could have possibly spread it out on small baking sheet.

Can’t wait to experiment with other fruits like cherries😁

How do I find recipes like this?

I start with ingredients I have on hand. I had a bag of delicious dried apricots from Costco.. So I searched dried apricot, almond flour, bars, paleo recipes. Paleo searches typically lead me to whole food style recipes. This recipe was also vegan. We are not vegan, so I substituted half real butter with half the coconut oil for flavor. You could also substitute honey for the real maple syrup.

For some today is the beginning of Lent…a time set aside for connection and getting back on track. A time for balance in all aspects of life. I find it to be a beautiful time of year of self reflection and rejuvenation.

I’ve always loved to hear all the stories of the various ways our patients discipline through lent. One of my most favorite shares is cleaning out one drawer or closet a day for 40 days. The person who shared this with me said the tradition has been passed down through the generations. Her mother would call her every day to discuss the drawers they organized. She too would contact her daughter and discuss the cleansing of the drawers. I love the whole circle of cleansing and conversing and meaningful relationship.

I’ve known about the drawer cleansing for over 20 years now! (How can it be so long???) I’m inspired and I’ve attempted it several times through the years, however I have to admit I’ve never been successful cleaning out 40 drawers in 40 daysšŸ˜‚ I’m still proud of the time I started this task 5 years ago and cleaned out our red craft/school work cabinet. It took me an entire week just for the one cabinet!!!šŸ˜‚

If you feel inspired to share I’d love to hear about your Lenten or annual disciplines šŸ¤— I’m not in the office as much as I used to be in years past and I miss the authentic conversations people share with me.

Artichokes.. Old Favorite…. New way to prepare.

I was SO Excited to find these beautiful Artichokes yesterday at Whole Foods on sale, 2 for $5!!

Decided to try something new and roast the oven instead of steam. I baked them pouched in aluminum foil with the juice of half fresh lemon and a drizzle of olive oil for about 1.5 hrs at 350. I baked them side by side with two sweet potatoes. They took about 1hr.

They were so incredibly delicious I forgot to take a pic. They were so big, the four of us shared two. Have two more for this evening, will try again and hopefully take a pic to sharešŸ¤—

Go out on a limb… try something new and different…healthy, simple, comforting and affordable.

Your basic lentils cooked with onion, carrot, celery, garlic and a bay leaf. The splurge is the snapper.. Don’t be afraid to cook fish. I usually always bake with lemon olive oil or butter around 375 for 10-15minutes. You know it’s done when it’s fork tender. Very quick simple and healthy.

Go out of your box.. we didn’t have fresh lemon to squeeze citrus freshness to finish so used an orange.

And this was a quick lunch because I froze half of the batch of lentils I made last month:)

Hi! I just want to share I found all this at Walmart in Wentzville. Whole food items that are organic with only one ingredient. While there I checked out the dried beans and found both red lentils and chickpeas.. no mung beans, but who knows they seem to keep expanding their health food supplies.

Post Purification and loving it!!

Made hummus from scratch today… my thoughts are:

1) Can you imagine making this with only a mortar and pestle ??!! šŸ˜‚ I’ll stick with the love of my life the reliable and always there for me Vitamix🄰

2) This is some ancient stuff!! They say it’s referenced in the Bible and the Ancient Egyptians were eating it. 🤯

3) How is it healthy if it tastes so good?? šŸ˜‹
Wikipedia: ā€œChickpeas, the main ingredient of conventional hummus, have appreciable amounts of dietary fiber, protein, vitamin B6, manganese and other nutrientsā€

Doug’s input: dietary fiber: ā€œNormal digestive functionā€ (aka good šŸ’©) protein, ā€œBuilding block of muscle.ā€šŸ’Ŗ vitamin B6, ā€œGreat for nerve flow, helps with neuropathy.ā€ manganese, ā€œgood antioxidant and reduces stress on the jointsā€ (think reducing inflammation to help you feel youthfulšŸ¤—)
