Dr. Alan Wolfelt has been thinking about freeze tag lately, a game he played decades ago with his neighborhood friends. He’s been speculating that many of us, faced with the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, can relate to that game, feeling as though our lives were frozen the moment we were no longer free to move about in the world as we once had. “Prior to the pandemic, many of us were busy running around, totally immersed in the demands of daily living, when we were suddenly told to freeze. And here we are, more than a month later, frozen still.” In this post, Dr. Wolfelt explores how we might “unfreeze” ourselves and take advantage of the opportunity to just “be": https://www.rememberingalife.com/blog/the-art-of-the-freeze

We have been vigilantly monitoring the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and feel, for the safety of our staff and families and community we as well will be following recommendations from the CDC.

The new CDC guidance recommends that "for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States." As of yesterday, the president has advised guidelines that people "Avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people" for the next 15 days.

The CDC suggested that funerals can still take place under the 50-person limit. For funerals taking place, they suggested limiting attendance to select family and steaming the service for those who cannot attend. They further advised that those who are ill and are at-risk (e.g., elderly, immune-compromised) should be encouraged to stay home. They also urge attendees to follow recommended healthy habits such as social distancing, hand hygiene, covering cough and sneezes, etc.

For these reasons the visitation and funeral for Walter Willimann will now be private to family only, and not open to the public. We will be recording the funeral service and uploading it to his obituary page on our website tomorrow for viewing. Until further notice all services will be handled in the same manner. Please share this post with others. Thank you!
