I am putting George’s obituary back up on Facebook. I am so sorry for the inconvenience of it disappearing for some reason someone blocked my account saying that it is abusive. I have no clue and have tried to fix it, but have no response from Facebook to help, we will get to the bottom of this. I just wanted to make sure all of his friends and family were able to see this on here.

George was the such a kind gentleman and he always had a smile and hug. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors on the hill. Please keep his family in your prayers especially his daughters; Patti Myers Yarkovich and Kathy Maximo and his granddaughters, Kristin and Megan. May he rest in peace, and may the choir of angels lead him to paradise amen ❤️

George R. Myers, 88, of Wendel, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 10, 1935, in Wendel, son of the late James and Charlotte (Anthony) Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne V. (Oberleitner) Myers, in 2015; brother, James "Sonny" Myers; and sister, Catherine Watson. He was also preceded in death by his beloved Cockatiel, Buddy. Prior to his retirement, George was a furnace operator, having worked for Dormont Manufacturing. He was a member of the Arona United Methodist Church and a life member of the Wendel-Herminie No. 2 Athletic Association. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and listening to polka music. His passion was golfing, where he belonged to the Robertshaw Acres Golf Club for many years. He also enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters and his grand-PUPS. George is survived by his two daughters, Patti (Ray) "Bruce" Yarkovich, of Wendel, and Kathy (Steve) Maximo, of Greensburg; two special granddaughters, Kristin (Todd) Yarkovich and Megan (Jason) Baxter; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. George will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Sweet officiating.
