People often say, "No one would choose to be gay… or trans… or queer.”

They say it to prove it’s not a choice. And we understand the intention. But let’s pause and ask - Why wouldn't someone choose it?

Because the world can be cruel.

Because rejection is real.

Because safety isn’t guaranteed.

That's not the world we want our LGBTQ+ loved ones to live in.

We want a different world.

What if we created a world where being LGBTQ+
wasn’t dangerous or difficult? Where no one was rejected because they are LGBTQ+. A world where no LGBTQ+ person had to defend their identity or justify it or hide it.

A world where being LGBTQ+
is always seen as beautiful!

At Real Mama Bears, we dream of that world - a world where LGBTQ+ people can live and thrive as their true authentic selves without fear or hesitation - and we are working everyday to make that dream come true.

Together we can change the world!

Home from Ohio after a day of flying the Delta milk run (Dayton to Atlanta to Minneapolis to Pasco) yesterday.

This was the best trip back ever! So much fun connecting with new and old family and friends, taking pictures of places where I had lived during the first 20 years of my life, visiting family gravesites.

Autumn is my favorite time of year to visit Ohio. The changing autumn colors of NE woodlands were starting to show as I looped around the state from London where I lived from age 6 months on, to Salem where I was born, and back to London by a different route. Pacific Northwest trees don’t naturally display this range of colors.

After finally getting moving today, an explosion of fuschia pink from the window by my desk caught my eye. What had the wind blown into the garden beds?

This gorgeous cosmos in full bloom is the sole survivor of a pack of seeds planted as a companion plant for the zucchini. As they did with most of my gardening efforts, the quail ate the rest of the seed. When I left for Ohio this plant was in full bud but none had opened. What a beautiful surprise to welcome me home!

Join wellness coach Helena Wolfe in exploring how communication skills tailored for each child can build resilience and equip them for the future.
