Flu season can be especially challenging for older adults and those with chronic conditions. At our long-term care community, keeping residents safe and healthy is always our top priority.

How we can all help reduce the spread of flu:
✔️ Get your annual flu vaccine
✔️ Wash hands often and use hand sanitizer

Cold & Flu Season in Long-Term Care: What Families Should Know ❄️🩺

Cold and flu season can be especially challenging for seniors in long-term care. As we age, immune systems may not respond as quickly, making prevention and early care essential.

How we help protect our residents:
• 🧼 Hand hygiene: Frequent handwashing for residents, staff, and visitors
• 😷 Illness awareness: Monitoring for early signs like cough, fever, fatigue, or changes in behavior
• 💉 Vaccinations: Encouraging flu and other recommended vaccines as ordered
• 🧹 Clean environments: Enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces
• 🥗 Wellness support: Proper nutrition, hydration, and rest to support immunity

How families can help:
• Please postpone visits if you’re feeling unwell
• Wash or sanitize hands upon arrival

With smiles all around and festive activities galore, it was fantastic to celebrate with our residents and staff, who feel like family.
