MCAR’s CPS Day Program and Residential Services had the opportunity to attend a special outing in memory of Carolyn McClure. We loaded up the buses and headed out to cheer on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers! Our individuals and staff had a fantastic time enjoying the ballpark activities, making the most of their all-you-can-eat wristbands, and trying new treats. But the best part of all was simply being together—laughing, cheering, and creating lasting memories in Carolyn’s honor. 💙⚾️

A few of our CPS Day Program staff and individuals had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful day at Keystone Safari. This year, the MCAR Day Program was excited to secure 12 season passes for use by both staff and individuals.
As you can see from the photos, the trip to the zoo was a great success, filled with smiles and memorable moments. The weather was ideal—neither too hot nor too cold—and the rain graciously held off, making it a perfect day for outdoor fun. Our individuals especially enjoyed the hands-on experiences, including feeding giraffes, llamas, and goats.
We look forward to many more enriching outings like this throughout the season!

CPS Day Program Participants Beat the Heat at Buhl Community Recreation Center

Today, with temperatures reaching a high of 82 degrees, individuals from the CPS Day Program had the perfect opportunity to cool off and enjoy recreational activities at the Buhl Community Recreation Center pool. Individuals and staff took part in a refreshing swim, with staff actively engaging individuals in various water-based exercises, including leg movements while walking through the pool, floating techniques, and even practicing going underwater.

It was heartwarming to witness the positive interactions not only among our individuals and staff but also with community members who were sharing the pool. Experiences like this foster inclusion, physical wellness, and social engagement in a fun and supportive environment.

MCAR’s Annual Luncheon on May 8th was a joyful celebration filled with great food, music, and connection!
We had a fantastic turnout as individuals and staff came together to enjoy a delicious catered lunch. The energy was high as our talented DJ kept everyone moving—there was no shortage of smiles or dance moves on the floor! It was heartwarming to see individuals enjoying the company of their peers, with some even making new friends along the way. A truly memorable day for all!

At MCAR, both staff and individuals are excited to welcome the warmer weather.
As part of our seasonal activities, everyone enjoyed learning about flowers and the care they require to bloom all summer long. The individuals took great joy in the experience—and their hard work didn’t go unnoticed. The kind words and compliments from those passing by meant the world to them.
