Long-time staff member, Mona Novak, has built a meaningful and lasting connection with the workers and owner of Root House International in Mercer, PA. Each year, from spring through fall, Mona leads her CPS group in volunteering with this incredible organization.
The mission of Root International is to bring together community organizations, ministries, and churches, as God directs. Root International partners with these groups in benevolence, education, and information to strengthen their capacity and effectiveness.
During their volunteer days, our staff and individuals assist by sorting through donated items from all over. Donations are organized into categories such as bedding, kitchen items, and clothing, then boxed, color-coordinated, and labeled with their destinations. The majority of items are sent to Mexico and the Navajo Nation, though Root International has also extended help to many other cities and states in times of need.
It is truly inspiring to see our dedicated staff and individuals working so hard, gaining a sense of accomplishment, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Monaâs commitment to building this partnership is a wonderful example of how service, compassion, and community engagement come together at MCAR.
