Meet Theo:
Theo is a very energetic 4-year-old. I have reached a time in my practice where I am now caring for the children of adults who I cared for when they were kids/teens. Theo’s dad was a patient of mine as a high school football player.
Theo came in with a digestive complaint, which is the number one reason I see kiddos. Theo’s complaint was soft stools, almost like diarrhea. He was still wearing pull ups at school as a 4-year-old. As you can imagine, this was quite a challenge for the family.
Theo’s health history did not include many notable events, but they all led up to compromising his nervous system, in particular the region of his nervous system that controls elimination.
In my office, I perform a nervous system scan called MyInsight and it allows me to really have “insight” into how a patient’s nervous system is functioning. On the scans, a white bar is a normal reading, while green is a mild reading, blue is moderate and red is significant, meaning that the nervous system is significantly compromised in that region and therefore the parts of the body that those nerves control will not be functioning correctly.
Theo had a significant number of colors in his lower thoracic and lumbar spine on his initial scan. This region of the nervous system is what controls and regulates our digestion and elimination.
We began a course of chiropractic adjustments to help restore the normal function of his nervous system. Typical protocol is to perform a progress scan around the 12th visit, and you can see Theo’s improvement on his progress scan (notice the decrease in the number of colors on his scan). However, his parents had already noticed an improvement in his bowel function after only about 4 visits and that improvement has continued throughout his care.
Theo is a great example of how neurologically focused chiropractic care can be an answer to many of the health challenges our kids face these days. If you have a child with health challenges that no one seems to have an answer for, please contact our office. If you know someone with a child with health challenges that no one seems to have an answer for, please forward this post to them.
