I’ve been studying Esther in Women’s Bible Study since fall and it’s been eye opening, rich with hope, and inspiring.

During seasons when we feel lost, doubtful, wandering, and questioning the presence of a good God, the story of Esther powerfully reminds us that God is present. He sees, knows, and cares.

Attached is a teaching (edited for a blog post) I gave for Esther 1:1-12.

This happened in August! 🙌🏼👏🏼🫶🏼

I received my Illinois license (LCSW) and accepting new clients for virtual appointments. In-office sessions in the Chicagoland will be available Spring 2026.

In-office appointments in VA are available until April 2026. And of course, you can schedule a virtual session.

And, I started a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary. Washington, DC! My first class — Introduction to Pastoral and Theological Studies.

For some time, I didn’t know what to make of Hagar’s story. It’s complicated, messy, nuanced. It still is. But I realize there’s something of her story that’s mine, that’s ours. And it’s worth telling.

What a treat it was to spend an hour in conversation with PCA WE - Wives of Elders on The Gift of Obscurity.

It's a season I know personally especially the past 8 months. I’m still in it. And though there are times of deep sorrow, angst, fear, even anger, and feeling lost, it's also marked and defined by awe, thankfulness, surrender, trust, and worship.

It's during such seasons as these that I believe that God is at work. My physical eyes cannot see the fruit, not yet, but God is and has been very good.

Find witnesses, like a therapeutic space that can hold the tension between the already not yet, and the gifts to be discovered in obscurity.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.

Maybe you’re wondering, “I know Jesus can but is he willing to act on my behalf? I know Jesus answers other’s pleas, petitions but when and how will he answer mine?”

Without minimizing your current circumstances, can you imagine yourself in the place of this man with leprosy [at the end of Mark 1]? Perhaps this might sound like an absurd ask, especially when there is no guarantee that your situation will be resolved or reversed. And yet, the risk in trusting is not in vain. There is one who sees, knows, and is deeply moved: He will reveal himself to you. Furthermore, when you experience divine care in this way, something deep within you shifts. It changes your outlook and perspective but most of all, it changes you.”

What a treat to spend this weekend in Northbrook, IL talking about mental health, parenting, and marriage! The community at Lakeview Covenant was gracious, hospitable, and curious. And more, their presence communicated they desire something greater than their current circumstance. … Truly humbled to teach and share.
