I provide Speech and Language Therapy services to children ages birth - 18 years in Herriman, Riverton, and South Jordan. I specialize in parent training and hands on therapy approaches. I am a certified Speech and Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. I also hold an active license to provide private speech therapy in the state of Utah through the Department of Commerce. Areas of expertise include:
Articulation and phonological delays - child not making the correct sounds in his speech, speech is not clear
Language delays - child not talking in complete sentences, using the right verb tenses, comprehension, etc. Social language delays - topic maintenance, taking turns in conversation, asking/answering questions
Stuttering and fluency - repeating words, sounds, blocks, prolongations, choppy phrasing
Feeding - picky eaters, may also have sensory integration problems and avoidance behaviors

Screenings and evaluations are included in your therapy session fees. Also included in your fees are yearly service plans and 6 month progress reports, which will include a summary of therapy progress, goals, and recommendations. In addition, I offer professional support through phone consults and e-mails. I ask that you be considerate of my time when making these calls. I participate in continuing education seminars and conferences to insure that you are receiving the best evidence based speech and language therapy services possible. In order for your child to progress appropriately through speech therapy I provide activities and homework in between therapy sessions. We will work collaboratively to identify and work on goals throughout the duration of your speech and language services. For pediatric clients I insist that a parent or guardian be present during each therapy session. Kids make the best progress when their parents know what is going on. The earlier you can get your child seen by a certified professional the sooner he will start making progress! Call me today and we can talk about your concerns. I am excited to begin helping your child and working with your family.

This is a wonderful graphic. Navigating the diagnosis process can be intimidating. I feel that the bottom bubble is SUPER important. You can begin getting help for your child to communicate BEFORE or WITHOUT any official diagnosis. If an assessment indicates that therapy would be beneficial that's all you need to get started.

Many caregivers are curious about the Autism evaluation process - and most of the time, it’s pretty straightforward.

There are some times when a confirmed “yes” diagnosis or “no” won’t be able to be given and the response may be to give needed support and then evaluate again after a period of time- and this isn’t super common but it’s also not uncommon.

Here is a great graphic showing that the diagnosis process for autism is actually more straightforward than you would think. Most important is the last bubble, intervention can begin based on the needs identified during the assessment. There is no need to wait for a diagnosis to begin helping someone communicate.
