I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. John 11:25 ✝️

For Christians, today is a quiet kind of heavy.

Not the shock of loss. Not the resolution of hope.

But the space in between.

The day where everything feels uncertain. Where the questions are still there and the answers haven’t come yet.

This is the part we don’t talk about enough.

The waiting. The not knowing.
The sitting in what feels unresolved.

And if there’s anything both grief and scripture teach us it’s this:

Hope doesn’t always begin in the light.

Sometimes, hope starts in the dark.

The book of Lamentations lives here.
It doesn’t rush the pain. It doesn’t skip to the ending.

It sits in the middle of sorrow and still says:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning…” Lamentations 3:22–23

Not after everything is okay. Not once clarity comes.

But in the waiting.

In the unknown.

In the quiet space where you’re still trying to understand what just happened and what comes next.

So if today feels heavy if it feels uncertain; you’re not alone in that.

Because sometimes, hope doesn’t come after the darkness.

Sometimes, it begins right in the middle.

Grief can feel like a tornado of life, leveling what you knew. As you stand in front of the rubble of what was, it is normal to feel anxious, hurt, overwhelmed, or lost.

You might feel like you are at rock bottom. But rock bottom is a firm foundation.

Whether it is the loss of a relationship, financial security after a setback, a failing marriage, a job, a dream that did not unfold the way you hoped, or even the grief that comes with a major life transition like a change in health or a new stage of life, yes, we pause in the debris. We acknowledge it. We sit with it for a moment and say, “This is hard.”

But then comes the question.
If you have been through a tornado of life, what kind of house do you want to build?

I am not saying there will not be bad weather again. Storms are part of living. But this time, you get to choose how to secure your house. You get to build with intention. You get to design it differently if you want. The great part is, it is your life. It is your role. You get to choose what this looks like.

So what kind of house will you rebuild?

Pick up your hammer and start building.

And if you need more tools in your toolbox, I am here to lend them. Just reach out.
