Mother’s Day is on Sunday.

For some, it will be filled with flowers, calls, and celebration. But for many, it carries something heavier.

If your mother is no longer here, this day can feel like an echo of what used to be.

If your mother wasn’t the mother you needed, it can bring up grief for something you didn’t get to have.

If you are a mother whose child is no longer in your life; whether through death, distance, or broken relationship; this day can ache in ways that are hard to explain.

Grief doesn’t follow the calendar.
But days like this can make it louder.

You might feel sadness.
You might feel anger.
You might feel numb.
All of it belongs.

Love doesn’t disappear just because a relationship changed…
or ended…
or never became what it should have been.

So as Sunday approaches, if this day feels complicated instead of celebratory; you’re not doing it wrong.

Take it one moment at a time. Be gentle with yourself.
Honor what was…
what wasn’t…
and what still lives inside you.

And even if your story doesn’t check all the boxes of what this day is supposed to look like, I’m still wishing you an early Happy Mother’s Day.

Because love, longing, effort, and the way you carry others in your heart, that counts too.
