This National Hospital Week, we proudly celebrated the incredible people who make Penn State Health extraordinary.

Across our health system, team members were recognized all week long with special events designed to show appreciation for their dedication — including employee picnics, visits from adorable highland cows and baby kangaroos, and even a late shift celebration to ensure every team member felt the gratitude.

After years of battling a recurring brain tumor, Amanda came to Penn State Health seeking new options. With the support of neurosurgeon Dr. Brad Zacharia, radiation oncologist Dr. Sean Mahase and a multidisciplinary team of specialists, she found renewed hope through advanced treatment approaches, including breakthrough GammaTile therapy.

Through expert collaboration, leading-edge technology and compassionate care, Amanda’s journey reflects the life-changing impact of innovation in brain tumor treatment.

As Memorial Day approaches, Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine invite you to honor those who have served through our annual Flags of Honor Program.

Recognize a family member, friend, neighbor or colleague who has served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. For each name submitted, a U.S. flag will be displayed at a Penn State Health location from Memorial Day through mid-July.

💙 This Mother’s Day, we’re sharing a story of love, compassion and the power of care beyond the hospital walls.

When physician assistant Emily Warf met Elijah in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Penn State Health Golisano Children's Hospital, she was part of the team caring for a baby born with complex heart disease.

Months later, she became something more — his mom.

Today, Elijah is 5 years old, full of strength and personality, and surrounded by a family who saw not just his challenges, but his potential.

💗 When Kathy Brown was diagnosed with breast cancer, her daughter Krystina had just welcomed her second child — a daughter of her own.

“I’m breastfeeding my daughter, and it just becomes real, real quick — when it’s your mother and you’re also a mother.”

A mammogram at Penn State Health Breast Center found Kathy’s cancer early. Her care team took it from there.

No radiation. No chemotherapy. Caught in time.

Now Krystina, considered high-risk, gets screened every six months — because her mother showed her what showing up looks like.

And one day, her daughter may watch her do the same.
