It is an exciting time this summer at Goepfert Speech Associates, LLC. A good many of our team members were able to meet for a lovely brunch at The Mill in Hershey.

In two weeks, we will add a third treatment room, and have been preparing by selecting new furnishings, plants and artwork! We are also ready to add another part-time Speech Language Pathologist to our team. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply directly at our office (717-533-1916). Job Description:
● Welcome patients;
● perform clerical duties;
● maintain office operations (patient files, accounts, insurance and payments); schedule evaluations and therapy sessions;
● prepare documents and correspondence;
● maintain patient confidentiality;
● communicate effectively and frequently with staff;
● participate in occasional meetings;
● complete miscellaneous tasks to contribute to the “team effort” for the smooth performance of office functions.

Part-Time:
● Approximately 20 hours per week, preferably 3 days/week
● (preferably M, W, F or M, W, Th, but flexible; possibly some evenings).
● Select portions of the work may be done remotely from home.
Necessary Skills: Computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google);

Another interesting Continuing Education Course through SpeechPathology.com.

An overview of auditory processing disorder (APD)in the adult population is provided in this course. The causes of APD in adults are described, and diagnostic and treatment tools used in an interdisciplinary setting are discussed.

Goepfert Speech Associates, LLC (a private practice) is now hiring a part-time Speech and Language Pathologist as a subcontractor* (to start immediately) for IN-OFFICE services. Client caseload varies, and may include preschool children (2 to 5 yrs.), school-aged children (6 to 18 yrs.), and adults with the following diagnoses/disorders: Speech Articulation (Phonologic), Receptive/Expressive Language, Language Processing,
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social/Pragmatic Language, Fluency (Stuttering), Voice, Transgender Voice, Accent Modification, Aphasia, Dysarthria, and Cognitive Linguistic Skills.
Applicants should be proficient, Certified (CCC) and PA State Licensed Speech and Language Pathologists who could be available any of the following (flexible hours, during the daytime into evening for 1 to 4 days per week ):
1. Tuesdays: potentially all or any portions of 9am to 7pm; .
2. Wednesdays: preferably/ideally 1:00pm to 7:45pm (but 9:00am to 1:00pm may be added later)
3. Temporary cover for Maternity Leave (up to 6 months, beginning Sept. 1, 2024) for the following days/times: Mondays: 1:00pm to 7:15pm and Thursdays : 1:00pm to 7:15pm.
Please let us know if any of these opportunities will suit your needs. Teletherapy and/or in-home services could also be part of the arrangement, if there is feasibility or interest.

Increased speech-language delays in this generation of “pandemic babies” cannot be blamed on a single factor. There are likely multiple contributors, including pandemic effects on caregivers, research indicates (see sources). During and following the pandemic, we’ve seen such effects first-hand in families at our clinic, with many caregivers facing stress related to job, child care, and/or income loss. Depending on the caregivers and the situation, this stress could have affected their availability to respond to children’s early communication attempts. In some cases, siblings stepped in as primary caregivers to relieve working parents.
