Our long term goal is to introduce the cuddle cot to parents,hospital staff and bereavement counselors. We would like to place as many cuddle cots as possible into hospitals. What is a cuddle cot you ask? A Cuddle Cot is a medical cooling unit disguised within a moses basket that allows a stillborn child to remain unchanged for a period of time. Research has proven having a unit available to parents while they are in the hospital encourages families to spend time with their child. This gift of time allows precious hours for bonding, pictures, plaster molds to be taken and other family members and friends to come and meet the child before the natural changes that occur in death become more apparent. In addition the baby can now stay in the room with the family the entire hospital stay if the family so desires. While we know this might not be for everyone it does allow families a choice. This is a choice the administrators of this page wish they had with their child. More time. 1 out of every approximately 160 babies is born silently in the United States alone. That staggering statistic equates to about 26,000 babies being born silently each year.
