Our steps to Texas are almost complete. Today we gained Texas Darptment of Agricultural licensure for pesticide application. In another 10 days we will be able to start on official business formation. Exciting things to come in the near future.

This could be a game changer in the plant pathology world. An antimicrobial peptide that can kill bacterial infections within citrus trees. It is naturally occurring and appears to be both protective and curitive.

New research affirms a unique peptide found in an Australian plant can destroy the No. 1 killer of citrus trees worldwide and help prevent infection.

Here is an example of Armillaria tabescens also known as the ringless honey mushroom. This was found in an ornamental grouping of both Cryptomeria and Green Giant Arborvitae. This is a white rot fungus that secrets enzymes capable of breaking down lignin.

Fun fact...it is a bioluminescent fungus...it will glow green.

This fungus is common but rarely seen on the aforementioned species. The Arborvitae was dead and the Cryptomeria was in decline. Armillaria is usually the result of chronic stress and dry soils, no comorbidities were seen.

I am surprised that we don't see more of this in tight plantings as they mature and consume soil resources. A good plant healthcare program with monitoring might catch these conditions before chronic stress develops. Adding restorative nutrients (prescribed fertilizer) a long with beneficial root/soil stimulating compounds could help to reduce plant stress.
