As of today NBP Foundation has worked in Miami, Honduras and in Haiti providing amputees with artificial limbs at no expense to the amputees or their country. After the Earthquake in Haiti on January 2010, No boundaries Prosthetic Foundation spent a year flying back and forth with different medical groups to attend to the wounded and the ill. During these trips the foundation got to treat around 50 amputees, and fabricated over twenty five prosthesis. Dr. Armando Quirantes and his family have been volunteering for over 25 years time as medical professionals and have personally purchased and donated parts for prosthesis for over 130 patients, as well as shelter, and among other things clean water filters for Haiti.
The foundation also completed reconstruction and rehabilitation of the prosthetics lab in San Felipe Hospital in Honduras. Machinery and equipment were donated to make the renovation complete. In order to make the best use of the new beginning for this lab, eight technicians that previously worked there, were given classes and update lectures. As a result they were re-certified. Material for more than 100 prosthetics was donated, as well as time and labor to fabricate them.
In Miami we continue to work in helping out those who come to us or are referred to us in need of medical treatment for various orthopedic conditions that prevents them from making full use of their limbs or like in most cases in need of a limb. Do to the overwhelming amount of amputees in Haiti, Honduras and locally in Miami our personal finances got very slim, we then decided to reach out to the community to help us organize events that can help us with the sponsoring of the needy.
