The other day while getting ready in the morning, a piece on one of my favorite earrings broke. In my head, I thought, well that’s a bummer, those are my favorites that I wear almost daily.
At first, it felt like a random, unfortunate piece of my morning routine.
But the truth was, it wasn’t actually “random” in the sense of the word. It was simply the final straw of months of daily “wear and tear.”
This reminded me of a recent interaction with a patient. She hadn’t been in to see me for several months and said that she had been feeling great—up until a day prior when she was putting on her shoes and her “back went out.”
But the truth is… bending to put her shoes on didn’t cause the back pain. It was just simply the straw that broke the camel’s back.
We hear this all the time:
“𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑘𝑒 𝑢𝑝 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑖𝑛 𝑚𝑦 𝑛𝑒𝑐𝑘.”
“𝐼 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑠𝑙𝑒𝑝𝑡 𝑤𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑔.”
“𝐼 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟.”
“𝐴𝑙𝑙 𝐼 𝑑𝑖𝑑 𝑤𝑎𝑠 [𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑡 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑜𝑟 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛].”
That’s like saying you woke up with a toothache and telling the dentist, “I must have just done something to it today, because I didn’t have pain yesterday.”
Aside from acute injuries, problems and pain don’t just appear. They accumulate.

All of these wear on your body and your nervous system over time, eventually leading to what we call subluxation—when a spinal segment loses proper motion and function, affecting the joints, discs, muscles, and nerves.
Your body is no different than a finely tuned machine, needing proper care and maintenance. Think about getting a new car. This car requires regular oil changes, putting gas into it before it runs out, most people try to keep it clean and looking nice. You don’t wait until something breaks to get it serviced.
It’s maintained, tuned, and cared for regularly to perform at its best.
Your body deserves not even that same level of care—but an even higher level. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚, 𝒔𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕!
