Dr. Robert J Familaro & Associates Ltd, serving Hickory Hills, IL and surrounding areas, received his B.A. & M.S in biological Sciences from Northwestern University. He graduated with honors from the university of Illinois college of Dentistry. Dr. Familaro was then accepted into Loyola University medical centers Oral & Maxillofacial surgery residency program finishing in 1985. Did you know that impacted wisdom teeth can cause permanent damage to nearby teeth, gums, and bone, and can sometimes lead to the formation of cysts and tumors that can destroy sections of the jaw. This is why it’s recommended that impacted wisdom teeth be surgically removed.

Have you noticed that swelling has increased a couple days after your oral surgery? There is no need to worry. Swelling does not generally subside completely for ten days, but to minimize discomfort in the meantime, you can apply ice packs starting after the first 24 hours.
