What exactly is "TMJ" pain? 🦷

Many patients have very destructive teeth grinding habits that can wear away the biting surfaces of their teeth. This habit is called bruxism. Bruxism also can cause significant pain in the patient's temperomandibular joint (TMJ) and jaw.

In addition, TMJ disorders can be manifested by clicking or popping joints, pain when the jaw is opened fully, limited range of opening, facial pain and muscle fatigue, ear pain or ringing in the ears, and frequent headaches.

We offer a number of different treatments that can help alleviate or eliminate the problem and symptoms. A night guard—which we create in house— typically is the first treatment that is offered, which can help to minimize the damage caused by tooth grinding.
