Why the Glycemic Index Matters🤔

Not all carbohydrates affect your blood sugar the same way. Understanding that can be a really helpful tool for supporting your overall health!

The glycemic index (GI) measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar. Choosing lower glycemic foods more often can help support:
🤍 steadier energy throughout the day
🤍 fewer cravings & less blood sugar crashing
🤍 better focus & mood
🤍 balanced hormones like insulin & cortisol
🤍 healthy metabolism & long-term wellness

A quick reminder: healthy eating doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. The goal isn’t perfection. Every BODY is different and may need different foods, diet, etc. Learning how to nourish YOUR body in ways that feel sustainable & supportive!

Eating while traveling doesn’t have to leave you feeling bloated, sluggish, or off track ✈️ It’s not about perfection, it’s about making simple choices that support your body!

Here are 5 easy ways to support your digestion when eating out:
1. Ask for sauces and dressings on the side
This gives you control over how much you’re actually consuming. Many sauces are loaded with hidden sugars, inflammatory oils, and excess sodium that can leave you feeling inflamed or puffy, so asking for them on the side helps you control what you're taking in!

2. Choose cooked veggies over raw
Raw veggies can be harder to break down, especially when your digestion is already under stress from travel. Cooked veggies are typically gentler on the gut & easier to digest so it's a good practice especially when traveling!

3. Choose rice or potatoes over pasta
These tend to be easier on digestion & less likely to cause bloating for many people. They’re also a simpler, more gut-friendly carb option when you’re eating out! Unless you're in Europe (where wheat is not bad for you as it is in America), this is a pretty solid traveling tip!

4. Pass on soda
Carbonation & sugar (or artificial sweeteners) can disrupt digestion and contribute to bloating. Opt for water with fruit or add electrolytes to stay hydrated instead!

5. Chew thoroughly
Digestion starts as soon as you take your first bite! Slowing down & chewing your food well helps your body break food down properly and can prevent that heavy, uncomfortable feeling after meals!

You don’t need to overhaul everything, just being a little more intentional goes a long way, especially on trips!✈️🚗
