-Make sure they're frequently washing their hands

Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful, blistering rash. While it can appear anywhere on the body, it most often shows up as a stripe of blisters wrapping around one side of the torso.

Common signs and symptoms include:
- Pain, burning, numbness or tingling
- Sensitivity to touch
- A red rash that develops a few days after the pain begins
- Fluid-filled blisters that break open and crust over
- Itching
