🌼 July is Group B Strep (GBS) Awareness Month 🌼
👶🏽💉 Keeping Moms and Babies Safe
Did you know? Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a common type of bacteria that 1 in 4 pregnant women carry naturally. While it's usually harmless in adults, it can pose serious risks to newborns if passed on during childbirth.
🩺 At our office, we screen for GBS between 35 and 37 weeks of pregnancy. If you test positive, don’t worry — antibiotics during labor are highly effective in protecting your baby from infection.
📌 GBS can cause:
• Sepsis
• Pneumonia
• Meningitis in newborns
✨ What you can do:
✔️ Attend your prenatal appointments
✔️ Ask questions about GBS screening
✔️ Learn your status — knowledge is power!
Together, we can raise awareness and promote healthy beginnings for every baby. 💗
