Family Guidance Center

Catawba County United Way wants to thank everyone who helped make the Ready to Race United event at the Hickory Motor Speedway's championship races - Saturday, Sept. 17 - a success, with a packed house showing up.
The CCUW raised more than $26,000 in sponsorships to help make it a free night of racing and fireworks for the public.
It also was a great opportunity to introduce 18 local non-profits during the resource fair prior to the races, spreading the word about the programs they offer.
Thank You again to everyone who was part of this experience and we look forward to doing it again next year.

This April, the Family Guidance Center is hosting “What Were You Wearing”, a powerful traveling art exhibit to bring awareness to sexual assault and prevention. The exhibit will be open on the second floor, next to American Eagle, during mall hours through April 30th.
Tis the season of giving 🕊💚! This year at CCI we decided to adopt two families and fulfill their Christmas Wishlist's! Brandalyn and Leah had done an amazing job dedicating lots of time, effort and care into making sure these families had nothing but smiles this holiday season. Huge thank you to the Family Guidance Center for allowing us to help and partake in spreading Christmas spirit!

In February we partnered with local churches, schools & organizations for a Stimulus of Hope campaign.

Many families were helped, many companies were able to gain new employees & many people found hope through employment.

Family Guidance Center led the way with referrals. We want to say thank you to all the participants & congratulations to FGC!

Our uneaten meals go to the Family Guidance Center to feed some very grateful women and children. It’d be nice to have nothing extra after mealtime but we plan for a few percent over the maximum so no one on a retreat at the center ever goes hungry. Having a local charity to make sure this food is put to good use is a win-win.

More donations from our amazing community members: a diaper bag full of baby necessities for our newest shelter resident, canned food, and cleaning supplies. Support from neighbors like you makes such a huge impact, even if you can’t always see the end results. We appreciate you!!

Thank you, Dana's Fine Jewelry and Premier Screen Printing! With your sponsorships, our clients are certain to have very happy holidays this year.

If you’d like to adopt a family from our Hope Tree or give back in another way, please send us a message or call 828-322-1400 extension 301.

🎁Thank you, Pat! Our Hope Tree sponsors are beginning to bring their gifts in for our clients and we couldn’t be more excited!

Pat has sponsored our clients’ wish lists for the holidays for the past two years. We appreciate her and all she does to lift the burden of holiday shopping from our families’ shoulders.

We have a baby on the way!

One of our shelter residents is expecting a baby any day now. While this is an exciting time for her, she is also concerned about having everything she needs to care for her little one.

If you or someone you know has a new or gently used infant carrier car seat, please consider making a donation to this client to take one thing off of her checklist. As always, any donation made is eligible to be written off on your taxes!

It's almost that time again! We are gearing up for our annual Hope Tree program to support our clients and their families during the holiday season. As we collect their wish lists, we are also searching for folks who would like to sponsor a family or two.

This would be a great service project for a family, small business, church group, or any other organization looking to give back to the community. Your contribution would mean so much to the individuals and families we serve. They have already lost so much. Will you help us bring some light back into their lives?

We hope you enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday while we are closed. We'll see you next week!

Thank you to City of Newton Police Department for the donation of clothes for our clients! Survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will often have to leave their clothing behind, either to be collected as evidence or in the rush to leave an unsafe living situation.

We appreciate the continued support from our community partners to do the work we do. Without you, our jobs would be next to impossible!

Thank you Conover Hardware for these and other toy donations to our shelter clients!! We appreciate you!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). This year, our theme is Every1 Knows Some1 because everyone does know someone affected by domestic violence in some capacity, even if they don’t realize it. We will be sharing information, resources, and events all month. Also, be sure to stop by our exhibit “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” at Valley Hills Mall located downstairs across from Kirkland’s. The exhibit features survivors stories and artwork as well as information and FGC’s services.
