Never forget 🇺🇸
With 9/11 coming tomorrow I’ve never shared this story. My dad served as a USMC from 74-78. My dad is one of the most patriotic men I know. I was taught from a very young age to love my country. I was brought up military style with tough love, hard work, and gratitude for those that had died for my freedom. When I was little my dad carried me around everywhere. I hardly ever remembered walking, because I was always in his arms. I recall a night when I was about 5 years old. We were at some event and a song came on. I had never heard it before. My dad had me in his arms and the song “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood was playing. When it started he put me down and placed his hand over his heart. I remember looking up at him and I said, “Daddy what are you doing?” He replied, “Put your hand over your heart, listen, this is about people who died for your freedom”. At 5 years old I really didn’t understand much about it. But I did as I was told, and tried to understand as much as I could. I’ll never forget watching him listen to that song, hand over his heart, and his eyes on the flag. As I grew he taught me more about our military, and I eventually understood the meaning behind that song. I understood why freedom, military, and America was such a God given freely gift that so many others had dreamed of. My dad had always taught me to be thankful for America, the gift of her freedom, the blood of all the men and women who paid the ultimate price. When I think about my love for America I think about that night. Looking up to my dad watching him silently thank God for our country, and also the look in his eyes; honored to of served. When I think about how much I love this land I think of my daddy who was the main source of teaching me the pride I have for our home and flag. As September 11th approaches and November is drawing near; I’ll never forget, I’ll never be ungrateful, I’ll always be proud to be an American, I’ll always remember the men who died for me, I’ll always love our flag, and I’ll always be a proud civilian who fights for the red, white, and blue. God bless the USA and the months to come. As so many of us remember, and continuously fight for her freedom and liberty everyday. 🇺🇸
