You may be gentle parenting, but these kids most certainly aren’t always gentle children-ing. 😅 It’s easy to imagine it all when they’re hypothetical, right? But here’s the kicker—parenthood can be triggering too… Who would’ve thought?! 🤯

This is so common, and you’re not alone. Here’s how to cool your system when you feel activated:

Take a deep cleansing breath. 🌬️
Ground yourself by engaging your five senses. 👂👀👂
Acknowledge the reality: this is tough, and everyone’s feeling all the feels. 🌀
Look for the wins, no matter how small. 🏆

Remember: practice makes progress, so carve out time each day to get grounded.

Of course, life doesn’t always give us what we expect. But they don’t always tell you that you’ll grieve what you didn’t have—the moments you thought would be yours. 💔

It’s natural, but it doesn’t hurt any less. Sometimes, we just ride the wave. 🌊

What helps is doing it with support—and practicing mindfulness. Acknowledge the pain, take a deep breath, and be with it. 💭

How?

By taking care of ourselves. Like seriously taking the time to get to know you, and then nurturing the soul you find.

You do this by:

🛁 Going beyond warm baths
🩻 Seriously taking care of yourself (mind, body, spirit)
🧘‍♀️ Radically accepting who you are

Even people who have had children feel a range of emotions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's not always blissful and sweet! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We all have desires, needs, and wants. Sometimes those things may cause discomfort for others (ie, I'm going to the space, you'll have to watch the baby).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Too often society addresses self-care as if it is a series of actions one takes. These actions are often associated with some kind of monetary thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For instance: you'll see people associate self-care with getting a manicure or pedicure or self-care with buying yourself flowers. And while those things are nice it doesn't have to be that at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Self-care is also just letting your mind focus on your breath and the sensations in your body. Self-care is the act of noticing too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So take some time today to prioritize yourself. Enjoy the act of noticing, and see what comes up for you.
