In September, 348 overdose reversal kits were distributed in our community, and 28 overdose reversals were reported.

"Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, from 6-7 p.m. for the next NCDHHS Fireside Chat & Tele-town Hall: NC Medicaid: Strengthening the Health of 1 in 4 North Carolinians. The virtual town hall will stream live across NCDHHS social media channels and through a phone line.

We are approaching the second anniversary of Medicaid expansion, which launched on Dec. 1, 2023. Since then, almost 700,000 newly eligible North Carolinians have enrolled and now have access to full health coverage through Medicaid. Today, 1 in 4 people in North Carolina have Medicaid, which provides affordable health coverage, access to doctors and prescriptions for more than 3 million children, older adults, people with disabilities, veterans and working North Carolinians.

Panelists for the event include:

Jay Ludlam, Deputy Secretary for NC Medicaid, Division of Health Benefits, NCDHHS
Crister Brady, M.D., MPH, Family Physician, UNC Family Medicine
Brenda Jackson, Director, Cumberland County Department of Social Services
During the town hall, these experts will share guidance and answer questions on:

How Medicaid makes North Carolinians healthier
Who is eligible for Medicaid under expansion
Ways to apply for Medicaid or other health care coverage
What to know about upcoming federal changes and the future of the NC Medicaid program
