“Wolff’s Law” states that your bones adapt to the stress you place on them—meaning they grow stronger and denser where needed most. In practical terms:

• 🏋️‍♂️ Load them to grow them – Weight-bearing activities like lifting, resistance training, and impact exercises signal your bones to remodel and become tougher.
• ⚖️ Stress ≠ injury – Properly dosed mechanical stress is healthy and essential; it trains your skeleton to reinforce weak areas.
• 🌿 Use it or lose it – Without regular load, bone density gradually declines. Consistency matters more than intensity.

Try this bone-strengthening mini-routine:

3× a week of squats or lunges (bodyweight or light weights)

Hopping or jumping drills (e.g. box hops or skipping rope)

Farmer’s carries or resistance band rows

Working out in the gym can help you be more consistent in your OsteoStrong session, but you are doing something totally different at your OS session. Working out gives you a sarcoplasmic adaptation whereas OsteoStrong gives you a myofibril adaptation. The myofibril is where your strength and power comes from and how we help with type 2 diabetes. Wellness Wednesday: Susan came to OsteoStrong Hickory at her husband's request. She has seen improved balance and a bone density increase on her REMS scans. She never thought she would be driving over an hour to Hickory once a week but says it is totally worth the investment and drive.
