Fun Epic Fact: Back when we began in 2012 we started with tiny 7x10" used ICE drink cardboard boxes. This tiny box would give us 18 cut bars at a 90oz/5.6lb pour, if we cut them correctly, which lets just be honest didn't always happen. We prayed every day that someone would find our experimental soap interesting. One such soap was The Exorcist, which was such an ugly color that it was given an equally ugly name. I truly didn't think anyone would like it, but as we all know, in time God does answer prayers. This I know for sure as it's still on our line as our go to smokey, hempseed, shave and cleansing bar!

Then in 2014 we needed to step it up in the soap box department to meet demand. This time to a pine wood box, a 10 pound pour which yields roughly 35 bars. These were lovingly created by my Father and Master Carpenter Dave Brown from Dave Brown Designs. They are such beautifully made boxes that we still use them today.

Fun Epic fact: our soap True Grit Maduro was a happy accident. One day while making 120 lbs of soap I had set out Orange Patchouli Clove and Maduro soap to be poured at the same time. At the last second during the blending phase, I grabbed the dry ingredients of orange patchouli clove (ground orange peels and ground clove spice) and dumped them in my charcoal Maduro blend mix. Ooop-see! Thus the “grit” in True Grit Maduro was born and it became even more popular than the smooth Maduro.

I’m not one to complain…I’m quite easy going. But the price on lye to make soap has gone up $40 just this past year. Yikes. It’s almost as if someone doesn’t want small businesses to succeed.
