Horses Healing Hearts

I have very exciting News!! We have purchased land in
Lebanon, CT and are building a Farm for Equine Guided
Psychotherapy with kids and Adults. The barns are built,
fencing is in and our two resident Horses, Jett and Callie
have arrived. A small cabin is being built where Laurie can
live with her menagerie of felines!
Sessions will begin when the weather warms up, so stay tuned
for further exciting info. Horses Healing Hearts has been thriving
for many years at Dreamcatcher Farm in Higganum, CT.

We are thrilled to continue clinical work there with at-risk teens from that area of the state.

It is wonderful to be back on Face Book to share the work of
Horses Healing Hearts. Many changes in my life, including
being the general contractor for building and putting up lots
of fencing! All while living in a camper on the property. Thanks
to YouTube for many, many directions as I didn't have a clue
about excavating, cement foundations, permits, windows, v***r
barriers and on and on.
Many long days I thought of giving up---but my determination
to build my dream, of a place kids could heal through nature, horses, love and acceptance, won out and helped me face the new day, digging deep to start anew.

Horses Healing Hearts had a busy
2019 and we look forward to many new events for 2020!

As I review our participants and programs from 2019, I am struck by the absolute need for programs, such as HHH,
for children and teens who are struggling with "adult"
burdens. Years past, kids had problems with a singular focus
and treatment was more streamlined and specific.

Today, kids face multifaceted issues in their young lives .
During 2019, many very serious cases were referred from
DCF to HHH. As the op**te crisis heightens in Ct. so does the number of kids needing help. Sometimes they have no place to live, as both parents are addicts. Often there are significant attachment issues fostered by a total lack of parenting, witnessing domestic violence and experiencing
a loss of trust in anyone or anything.

For these kids, Horses Healing Hearts is an oasis of
acceptance, love and the beginning of experiencing trust through an equine friend. Horses are honest with feelings,
and totally accepting of the kids exactly where they are.

There is a beautiful, subtle energy when a child arrives and
chooses a particular horse to start a relationship with. It is a sentient pull around both of them and I am amazed at how
people, any age, chose a horse who has had exactly the same experiences in their past. This gentle way of knowing, guides the new equine friend with how to help with the
healing process.

And there you have it! Horses and their absolutely beautiful
ability to heal................

Horses Healing Hearts CT has a wonderful new horse named Jett!!!!
He is a Dutch Warmblood, from the Netherlands-and is gorgeous!! He loves people, is very curious and comical and
quite intelligent. He will make an outstanding addition to
HHH and I am training him for the obstacle course currently.

Horses Healing Hearts is expanding!!
We want to add more programs and work with a greater number of teens! We strongly believe that Nature and Horses Heal! So,
we are looking for low-cost or donated land to build a small barn with heated room for winter treatment groups, a labyrinth, nature trails,and an organic vegetable garden. And of course
nice pastures for our horses to graze.
Any donations,volunteer help or information about
available land would be very much APPRECIATED. HHH
serves a population of teens who have experienced horrific
lives thus far, they have no hope for the future., Our
horses and program offer hope and possibility thinking as
well as providing healing to kids who feel they don't matter.

We are very excited to announce! The Ct Department of Children and Families has awarded Horses Healing Hearts a contract to provide equine-guided psychotherapy to inpatient and outpatient teens. These kids are residing in psychiatric hospital settings or have been discharged to residential treatment facilities, or group homes.
