We are truly grateful to the High Point Enterprise for their beautiful coverage of yesterday’s farewell event, held for our Independent Living resdients, honoring our beloved Sisters at Pennybyrn. Jimmy Tomlin’s story, “Pennybyrn bids fond farewell to retiring sisters,” captured the emotion and history of the day beautifully.

Thank you, Jimmy, photographer Laura Green, and your entire team, for honoring the Sisters’ legacy with such care and sincerity. ❤️

HIGH POINT — Irish eyes were smiling and crying Wednesday, as the Pennybyrn retirement community bade an emotional farewell to four devoted representatives of the Sisters of the Poor Servants

We are proud to celebrate Lily Alexander, Life Plan Advisor and valued member of our Marketing Team, on her recent graduation from the Leadership High Point Program!

As part of this year’s class project, Lily and her classmates brought to life “The Oasis at the Arc,” a beautiful sensory patio created for the Arc of High Point. The Oasis engages all the senses with a vibrant mural, fragrant mint and lavender, soothing wind chimes, textured rocks, and inviting furniture and greenery.

Thanks in part to Lily’s dedicated fundraising efforts, securing auction donations from 12 companies and helping raise more than $2,500 through the class auction, the project raised $15,000 to build the sensory garden.

We are grateful for Lily’s commitment to Pennybyrn’s mission of “Demonstrating God’s love for the lives we touch.”

Please join us in congratulating Lily on this wonderful achievement!

🌟 Merci Beaucoup to Our Incredible Volunteers! 🌟

This week, during National Volunteer Week, we hosted a French-themed brunch to honor the amazing individuals who generously give their time and hearts to our community. 🇫🇷🥐🍷

Our celebration featured a delicious brunch, an Eiffel Tower building contest, a caricature artist, and delightful French wine tastings. 🗼🎨🍇

We are deeply grateful for our volunteers, whose dedication and compassion make a profound difference in the lives of our residents and rehab patients.

What a night! Shamrockin’ 2025 was an unforgettable celebration of Irish spirit, community, and compassion—and we are beyond grateful.

A huge thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Annette Benson, whose generous support helped make the evening such a success. We also extend heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, guests, and friends who made this night one to remember.

Together, we raised over $100,000 for the Resident Care Fund—providing vital support for the average of 35–40% of residents in our Healthcare Households (skilled nursing) who have outlived their financial resources or rely on Medicaid, which only covers a portion of the true cost of our compassionate care.

We were especially honored to celebrate and uplift the Poor Servants of the Mother of God Sisters, whose legacy of love and service continues to inspire us all.

Thank you for dancing, giving, and showing up in support of something so meaningful. We are already counting down to next year!

This past Sunday, we had a truly special time celebrating the incredible SMG Sisters at the 57th St. Patrick’s Tea, made possible by our generous Lead Sponsor, Annette Benson. It was a beautiful afternoon filled with joy, gratitude, and community as we honored the Sisters and their lasting legacy.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this cherished tradition! Your presence and support mean so much as we continue to celebrate the legacy and love that the Sisters have shared for the past 77 years.

Photos:
The SMG Sisters were presented with beautiful handmade wall quilts representing the Penny House, their home for the last 77 years. These meaningful gifts were lovingly created by Pennybyrn residents Sandra McCarthy and Ann Johnson, with the idea initiated by Vern Allison. They are all pictured here with the Sisters. Special thanks to Laura Greene with the High Point Enterprise for capturing this moment.

It's Gifting Day at Pennybyrn! Santa and his Elves worked hard all week to bring our Employees some Christmas cheer. Some of our elves had a few too many candy canes, and brought a jolly spirit with every present given! It was the merriest of days and we are so thankful to share a token of our appreciation for this amazing team.
