๐Ÿ’š Mental Illness Awareness Week | October 6โ€“12 ๐Ÿ’š

This week, we join people and organizations across the country to bring attention to mental health and the realities of living with mental illness.

At Mental Health Associates of the Triad, we believe that understanding and empathy are the first steps toward change. Mental Illness Awareness Week is a time to learn, listen, and speak openly about experiences that are too often kept in silence.

1 in 5 adults experiences a mental illness each year, yet stigma still keeps many from reaching out for help. Together, we can change thatโ€”by starting conversations, offering support, and reminding our neighbors that mental health care is health care.

Letโ€™s make space for understanding, connection, and hope.
Because mental health matters, and every voice helps break the silence.

If you or someone you know needs support or resources, visit our website to learn how we can help.

๐ŸŒฟ Wellness Check-In: The Power of Boundaries ๐ŸŒฟ

Protecting your mental health often begins with boundaries. Boundaries are not walls, they are guidelines that help you preserve your energy, time, and peace of mind.

3 Ways to Practice Healthy Boundaries
โœ… Say no without guilt. Declining requests that drain you makes space for what matters most.
โœ… Set limits with technology. Silence notifications during meals, rest, or personal time.
โœ… Communicate clearly. Let others know what you can and cannot take on. Clear boundaries create respect on both sides.

Boundaries are an act of care for yourself and for your relationships. Protecting your peace allows you to show up fully in the areas that matter most.

๐ŸŒฟ Weekend Reset ๐ŸŒฟ
The weekend is more than time off, itโ€™s a chance to reset your mind and body.

Stepping back from constant demands creates space for rest and reflection, which are vital for well-being.

3 Ways to Reset as You Head Into the Weekend
โœ… Unplug with purpose. Put away screens for a while and notice how your mind feels without constant notifications.

โœ… Reflect on the week. Ask yourself, โ€œWhat gave me energy? What drained me?โ€ Reflection helps you choose differently next week.

โœ… Protect your rest. Give yourself permission to slow down. Rest is not wasted time โ€” itโ€™s the foundation for resilience.

Your well-being matters. This weekend, let yourself pause, breathe, and reset.

๐ŸŒฟ Mental Health Minute: Rethinking Stress ๐ŸŒฟ

Stress is often seen as the enemy, but not all stress is bad. Short bursts of stress can sharpen focus and help us rise to challenges. The problem comes when stress lingers too long without relief.

3 Ways to Reset Your Relationship with Stress
โœ… Listen to your body. Notice early signals like tight shoulders, headaches, or fatigue. These are cues to pause before stress builds.

โœ… Use stress as information. Ask yourself, โ€œWhat is this stress trying to tell me?โ€ Sometimes it points to areas where you need boundaries, rest, or support.

โœ… Balance stress with recovery. Build in small recovery moments โ€” a walk, a stretch, or even silence โ€” so your body and mind can reset.

Stress is a signal, not a failure. Paying attention and responding with care can turn stress into a tool for growth instead of a weight you carry.
