We accept NC Medicaid, Tailored plans, BCBS and private pay. Express Communication Therapy provides speech language pathology services to children from 0 to 10 years of age in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. We primarily specialize in bilingualism (bilingual certification (TSSLD)), articulation therapy, apraxia and language delay with children that are proficient in English and Spanish. Express Communication Therapy is committed to providing quality services, encouraging family involvement, and making therapy fun. 🇲🇽🇪🇸 Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight: Spanish Sounds! 🎉

Spanish has beautiful and unique phonemes that develop at different ages. According to ASHA, here’s when children typically master them:

✨ Ñ (/ɲ/) → ~5 years

✨ LL (/ʎ/ or /ʝ/ depending on dialect) → ~5 years

✨ R (tap /ɾ/) → ~5 years

✨ RR (trill /r/) → ~7 years

🗣️ These sounds carry cultural identity and pride! Every child’s journey is unique—especially bilingual children—so progress may vary.

Let’s celebrate the richness of Spanish language and support children as they grow in both English and Spanish. 🌎💬

Hispanic Heritage Month: Cooking up language skills! 🍎🌮 Through pretend play with tortillas, beans, and fruits, kids ‘cook’ and ‘serve’ meals while practicing vocabulary and building sentences. Example phrases: ‘I cook rice.’ ‘The food is hot.’ Target skills: vocabulary expansion + sentence building.
