Providence Place

Providence Place Providence Place is a faith-based, nonprofit retirement community in High Point, NC, that's been serving seniors since the early 1970s.

We offer independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory support. Providence Place has dedicated itself to senior healthcare and housing in High Point and the Triad. We have grown to include a large campus on Westchester Drive, home to our Independent Living (Westchester Village), Assisted Living (The Harbour) and Skilled Nursing (Westchester Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center

) facilities, as well as the Providence Place Administrative offices. Our outreach stretches beyond High Point and into the community at large because ministering to the health and well-being of our elder population has no geographical bias.

🪷 Tomorrow wraps up National Skilled Nursing Care Week, whose theme this year is "Moments in Bloom." The theme recognizes everyday acts of compassion and connection that grow into meaningful experiences for residents, families, and staff. It also anticipates how small gestures can develop into impactful moments full of purpose for residents.

We honor all the people who reside in, work in, and volunteer in nursing centers and demonstrate compassion and commitment every single day. Your presence truly makes a difference! 💖 💫

The Harbour courtyards are coming to life this season, thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community!

Beautiful flowers were generously donated by our community partner, Hospice Home of the Piedmont, along with additional blooms and a wonderful variety of vegetables—tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots—donated by a thoughtful family member. 🍅🥒🥕

These contributions are helping create a vibrant, welcoming space that our residents can enjoy all season long. We are so grateful for the support that helps our community grow—literally and figuratively! 💚

Now we have to ask… what’s your favorite kind of cookie? 🍪

We were thrilled to welcome Girl Scouts Service Unit 151 as they kicked off their gardening rehabilitation project at Westchester Village—our independent living community! 🌿

This project is a beautiful example of community coming together, and we are so grateful for their support and enthusiasm in helping us create a space that will bloom with both beauty and purpose.

💐 We’re currently seeking sponsors and donations of gardening supplies, including tools, vegetable and flower seeds, soil, and benches. If you’d like to contribute, we’d love to hear from you!

We can’t wait to watch this garden grow into a peaceful, vibrant space that provides both nourishment and joy for our residents. 🌸💕

🌸In celebration of Nursing Home Week, our theme this year is Moments in Bloom!

Residents in Independent Living brought that theme to life by creating beautiful tissue paper flowers to decorate our seasonal tree in the activity room.

A special thank you to Sandy Myers for leading this creative and joyful activity—we appreciate you, Sandy! 💐

What do ice cream, swimming pools, and moms have in common? 🍨💐

Honestly… we’re not quite sure either—but it made for one sweet celebration!

Residents gathered for a “Super Sundae in a Swimming Bowl,” complete with more toppings than you could count and plenty of smiles to go around.

The true cherry on top? Our very own resident, Lucille Potter, shared a heartfelt reading of her original poem, “Motherhood,” from her book of poetry—a beautiful tribute just in time for Mother’s Day.

It was a fun and meaningful afternoon here at Providence Place! ❤️

💙 We had such a wonderful time celebrating our incredible nurses this week! 💙

We wanted to share a few highlights and give a special shoutout to our amazing dietary team—David Burkes and Montrell Matthews—for preparing a beautiful lunch the other day. It was made even sweeter with homemade cheesecake by our very own Assistant Director of Nursing, Carla Geer. 🍰👏

Here’s a look at how we celebrated all week long:

🌮 Monday: “Nacho Average Nurses” with a fun nacho kickoff
🎁 Tuesday: Gifts and snacks to show our appreciation
🍦 Wednesday: Ice cream truck treats delivered right to the halls
🥗 Thursday: A delicious lunch prepared with care
🍓 Friday: Refreshing fruit smoothies to wrap up the week
🥪 Weekend: Sub sandwiches and goodies provided by our wonderful weekend supervisor, Dawn Dennis

It’s safe to say a great time was had by all! We are so grateful for our nurses and the compassion, dedication, and heart they bring each and every day. 💕

📖 Hidden Gems at Providence Place

In a quiet corner of the Activity Room, our lending library holds more than books—it holds stories, comfort, and connection. From well‑loved novels to inspiring reads, these shelves are a gentle reminder of the joy of slowing down, turning pages, and rediscovering the light that reading brings to our days. ☕

✨ May's featured book: The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo — a heartfelt novel about love, timing, and the paths not taken. It follows Lucy and Gabe, two young people who meet by chance on September 11, 2001, and form a deep connection rooted in shared passion and possibility. As life pulls them in different directions—through ambition, relationships, and difficult choices—the story explores how one love can shape a lifetime, even when it can’t be fully lived. The novel is a poignant reflection on fate, sacrifice, and the enduring power of first love.

Already read this book? We’d love to hear what you thought—share your review with us! 🙊 No spoilers please!
