We all want a clean toothbrush! Store your toothbrush upright, not touching other brushes, and in a medicine cabinet or closet away from the open-air (and flushing toilets...yuck!). If you use a toothbrush cover, make sure it has holes to allow moisture to escape or has antibacterial properties.

It’s best to wait until children can use mouthwash without swallowing it, typically around 6 years old. It's best to practice with water first. The best mouthwash for children is generally one that contains fluoride but does not contain alcohol. Avoid whitening mouthwash or “clinical” rinses not made specifically for children. Alcohol-free mouthwash is generally easier for kids to use (it’s not spicy!) and can help get rid of food particles missed during brushing and flossing.

Did you know that sour candy could be worse for children’s teeth than average candy? Sour candy is not only covered in sugar but also gets its sour taste from citric acid, which can weaken enamel! While these treats are fine on occasion, don't forget to floss and brush twice a day. Remember, everything in moderation!
