100th Day of School Toolkit
In honor of Ageism Awareness Day this week, we want to share the newly developed toolkit, 100th Day of School Celebration: A PreK - Grade 2 Curriculum Guide for Cultivating Positive Views of Aging. This toolkit was co-created by our School of Social Work MSW Program Director, Dr. Katherina Terhune and a research team of gerontologists and educators to offer accurate information about aging and ageism and to provide teachers with options that do not perpetuate ageist stereotypes. Celebrating the 100th day of school can reinforce important academic content while supporting age-inclusivity rather than ageism. This toolkit, which is supported by research and informed by elementary educators, includes carefully selected stories and designed lesson plans that match elementary-level learning objectives, are linked to national education standards, and are free of ageism.
