Dear Patients:
This is a very trying and uncertain time for our nation and the entire world. It is also a very fluid and ever-changing situation. In an effort to maintain the practice of social distancing and the order of shelter in place, North Shore Ear, Nose and Throat Associates is enacting new guidelines for office visits. Our local hospitals have suspended elective surgery, as have many hospitals across the country.
Our national organization has recommended the following guidelines: "Based on the most current compilation of information, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is recommending that all otolaryngologists limit providing patient care activities to those individuals with time-sensitive, urgent, and emergent medical conditions."
The health and well-being of you, your families, your loved ones and our staff is our principal concern. We will continue to fulfill our obligation to provide care while conserving resources for the community.
Based on these considerations, we have implemented the following policies:
We will continue to screen all calls and patient visits for symptoms of the coronavirus. We will inquire regarding fever, cough, breathing problems, recent travel and exposure to known cases. We ask your cooperation in these processes. We cannot see patients who are suspicious of having the coronavirus, but we can help direct your care accordingly.
Our office will remain open for time-sensitive and urgent medical conditions. If you have an existing appointment our office will be contacting you.
To improve our availability to you, we are now offering telemedicine visits. We will work with your insurance company to determine your coverage and eligibility, which have recently expanded to promote telehealth. In order to provide telemedicine, we will require basic information over the phone similar to an office visit.
Please be assured, as a community we are all affected and are all anxious. At the same time, we are hopeful that this will soon pass and that life will continue as normal. It also is a time to realize how normal life is a true blessing. We feel privileged to provide ear, nose and throat care to you, our most valued patients.
If you have any questions or concerns, then please do not hesitate to call and ask. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
North Shore Ear, Nose and Throat Associates
