Happy Birthday to the most amazing sister anyone could wish for.

Lauren, you are the definition of strength, grace, understanding, and determination. You are kind beyond measure and I don’t think I’ve ever heard you utter a bad word about anyone (except that one time when you called the nurse a bitch when you were still waking up from anesthesia.. to be fair, you thought you were whispering 🤷‍♀️) ok and the time you made fun of my mustard pants (still haven’t lived that one down…)

Caleb and Oliver are so lucky to have you as their Auntie (T**i).

Growing up with you as my sister, I had some pretty big shoes to fill (despite your little feet) and I still strive to be more like you every day.

I love you and I hope 46 brings laughter, joy, and smiles. Can’t wait to celebrate you!!

Unfiltered out of office.

Spending some quality time with my family this break. We will return in office for phone calls 1/13 and to see patients 1/16.

Thank you for allowing me to spend this time with my children and husband at my second home, Maui.

Please expect delayed responses due to the time change as well as focusing more on life outside the screen. As always, if there is an urgent matter you may call the business line or text with urgent.

💕Long Story Ahead💕

The most magical place on 🌍. That’s what they say Disney is and after about 28 years away I remember why.

As the story goes, my first Disney ride ever, Pirates Of the Caribbean, was in utero. My parents were here with my sister (my bff) and my mom was pregnant with me.

❤️They love telling me that story❤️

…When my sister was little, she had Leukemia and my parents wanted to make the world Magical for her. Snow White was her favorite and as overachievers they went next level and became close friends with her. JoAnn, the kind soul in the Snow White costume befriended a 3 year old needing some magic in her life

As a parent now, I can’t imagine the relief my parents must have felt to give her that magic. My sister is 44 and STILL loves Disney and I hope one day we can give our families together the experiences my parents gave us (with them too of course).

To see the joy in my children’s eyes was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced with them before. It also showed me how different they are, and how I need to respect their individuality even more as they grow so they can foster independence and confidence their own way.

It’s only been one day, and if the rest of our trip is as fabulous as Day 1, we’re going to have a lot to live up to for future vacations.

These kids are my why. Why I get up early to work to set up my EMR (and write instagram posts instead…) Why I wanted to start my own practice. I want my love of medical aesthetics and my family to blend and that’s what Makena Aesthetics will be. A labor of love where my children want to be at work with me like I once wanted to be with my Dad.

I guess the point of this post is to say I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected and pulled in every which way and for me the first thing to go is social media. If I don’t have anything to post, I don’t. I don’t do fluff. But I’m here for the long haul and I hope you’ll continue this ride with me whether I post once a month or 3 times a week.

Thanks to my incredible husband and the Horan’s for planning this whole trip (all I did was show up…) And thanks to everyone for supporting this labor of love. Those who have supported us, I see you.

As a more novice injector, I used to think that my patients would think I didn’t know what I was doing if I marked their faces.

However, as I’ve gained more experience, I have come to understand the benefits of mapping out your treatment plan prior to injecting.

I have found that patients actually like the attention to detail and it helps me to keep my appointments on track.

When you’re doing full face restoration mapping out the zones you DON’T want to inject is just as important as the zones you DO want to inject. I love having little reminders as I get into my flow.

Thanks to this patient for letting me video our treatment and share photos! It’s always an honor when another injector (and one who’s shadowed you in the past) trusts you with their face!

💔 You never think it will happen to your community… until it does 💔

My heart mourns for the victims and their families.

And by victims I mean every person at that parade that had to grab their child, friend, parent or loved one and run for their lives.

I mean the first responders who tirelessly searched for the shooter. The first responders who had to come upon a scene of horror. The first responders who will forever have this memory ingrained in their minds.

I mean the healthcare workers who rushed to the hospitals to be extra hands and those already there who had to use their training for something they never thought they’d have to use it for.

I mean for the children who are too scared to leave their homes or leave their parents sides for fear of being shot at.

My heart mourns for our community as a whole.

For the month of July, RK Aesthetics will be donating 15% of all product/skincare sales to the victims of the shooting in Highland Park. While not much, we want to try to give back to the community that gives so much to us.
