Multiple studies have found that people with higher levels of dispositional gratitude have signs of better psychological health, including higher levels of perceived social support and lower levels of stress, depression, and anxiety.

“A study of survivors of a campus shooting found that people with high trait gratitude four months following the shooting showed a stronger relationship between post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth, suggesting that very grateful people may be better able to convert stressful situations into opportunities for growth.”

Meet Maddi!

Maddi is part of our front desk staff. She has always had a dream of going into medicine and hopes to become a physician assistant!

Maddi is a terrific dancer and has been dancing since she was 3!

You can often find Maddi doing anything outdoors in the mountains—she loves rock climbing, skiing, and hiking.

In a study, researchers found that after 10 weeks of recording daily experiences (either focused on things they were grateful for or things that irritated them), those who focused on gratitude “were more optimistic and felt better about their lives.”

“[G]ratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

It’s the perfect time of year to focus on having more gratitude in our day-to-day.
So what are you thankful for? Tell us below! 👇

Meet Lachlan!

Lachlan is sugar and spice and all that is nice. She keeps us on our toes by learning and sharing interesting facts about our colleagues in the office.

A highlight for Lachlan was spending 3 weeks in Africa with her mother which she says was amazing, challenging, and life changing.

You can often find Lachlan with her husband cheering for the Utah Jazz or Lone Peak baseball team. She loves to see movies and play board games with her family and friends.

Four different studies conducted from 2013-2015 found that people who were more grateful reported 1) better physical health, 2) higher engagement in healthy activities, 3) willingness to seek help for health concerns, and 4) sleeping better and longer.

So start recognizing what you’re grateful for and see if you don’t feel a little better physically. What can it hurt?
