We’re proud to continue sponsoring the Highland Elementary School DAWG Run! 🐾🐾

The purpose of the “DAWG Runs” is to encourage students to explore and grow their love for running. Members will practice running, learn proper technique and nutrition, and—most importantly—discover how much FUN running can be!

St. Louis Measles:

A confirmed case of measles from an out-of-state resident was reported to have visited the St. Louis Aquarium between 1-6 p.m. on April 30. Additionally, the individual ate at a restaurant in St. Louis on the same day, but available details of this visit have been extremely limited thus far.

Individuals who may have had exposures at the St. Louis Aquarium during the time the person visited and who are unvaccinated or are immunocompromised should consider post-exposure prophylaxis. The usual time interval for prophylaxis to be effective is within six days of exposure (by May 6). The most common incubation period for measles if exposed is 10-12 days. Those with questions or the need for evaluation please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

The key to preventing measles is the highly effective MMR vaccine. Two doses are 97% effective in preventing this serious infection. We recommend that our patients and their family members are up to date on the MMR vaccine and all other age-appropriate immunizations. The 1st MMR is usually given between 12-15mo and 2nd at 4-5 years.

Symptoms of measles include: high fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, and a rash starting on the face/neck and travels down the body that develops after a few days of symptoms.
