🐝 Making a Native Bee Nesting Box 🐝

With our friends at Hollow Tree Honey Foundation. It was a beeutiful day on The Kinlands farm. Building a native bee box is an easy way to give back to our winged friends.

Native bees deserve some serious buzz too being they’re actually 2 to 3 times better pollinators than our popular friends the honeybees. They love pollen! Native bees collect pollen to feed their nest while honeybees prefer nectar.

Did you know Utah here has over 900 species of native bees? There are over 4,000 in North America.

Teaching the future generation and current about Bees with a fun project like this is everything! I adore seeing this kind of thing go down in our community. 👏👏👏

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝🐝🐝

The Warre Hive is new to us this year. We are loving it. A wild swarm we caught moved in and has absolutely loved their new home as much as us.

Thank you bees for all you do for all of us! 🐝🥂 Like pollinate and help provide most our food. Not just honey bees but we must remember to give a shout out to our native bee friends too, who actually do a lot more of the pollinating. 👏

Preparing for winter. 🐝🐝🐝 I use to shrink their entrance in the fall that was before I realized they already do. Not needed. The more I pay attention the bees instead of the books the more I realize a lot of information I’ve learned (and doubted) is just regurgitated, with no real research or studies to back it.

Just look at that thick sheet of propolis! A living hospital for bees. Truly a potent superfood that helps support them and also keep them warm through the winter. Smart bees. 🐝📚
