Brown Catering Company recently created a beautiful display following our candlelight ceremony, providing a warm space for guests to gather, share memories, and find comfort in community.
We’re grateful to have Ashlyn and her team as part of our extended family, helping us serve families with compassion, excellence, and care.

Tonight’s Candle Light Service of Remembrance was a deeply moving experience that reminded us why we do this work.
Hundreds of families we’ve had the honor of serving came together, along with cemetery visitors, to share in a moment of collective healing and remembrance. The warmth of their embraces and the gratitude they expressed touched every member of our team profoundly.
The evening was made more beautiful by the voices of our Crosby ISD Crosby middle school choir, whose performance brought comfort through music. Pastor Keenan delivered words that spoke to the heart, while grief author Lynette Relyea shared insights that gave language to the journey so many are walking.
None of this would have been possible without our entire team. From setup to the final candle extinguished, every person played a vital role in creating a seamless, sacred space for remembrance.
To the families who joined us: thank you for allowing us to continue walking alongside you. Your presence honored those we remember.
To our community partners and team: your dedication made this night possible.
In a world that often rushes past grief, tonight we paused together. And in that pause, there was healing.

Our Story

Rueben White (1795-1848), one of Stephen F. Austin's original "Old 300" colonists, acquired a Mexican land grant here in 1824. White was part of a large extended family that settled this area, later known as White Settlement. Although White's is the earliest recorded burial here, older gravesites are believed to exist. Formerly set aside as the White Family Cemetery in 1850, it eventually became a community cemetery. Interred here are many area pioneers and their descendants and veterans of conflicts, from the Texas Revolution to the War on Terror.

Over the years, new sections of the cemetery were built and dedicated. Sterling-White Cemetery now offers traditional ground burial, lawn crypts, mausoleum crypts, niches for interring cremated remains, and dedicated cremation gardens. The Garden of Honor was dedicated to honor those men and women who have served in the armed forces. Private family hedged estates are being developed; phase one was completed in January 2009.

In 1987, Sterling-White Funeral Home was erected on the cemetery grounds. Today the combination of Sterling-White Funeral Home and Cemetery offers families convenience, cost savings, and a level of service that far exceeds that of the standalone cemetery or funeral home.
